Don Quixote

Don Quixote (2024)  Ink drawing by  Maurizio Puglisi  "To think that the things of this life must always remain fixed in one point is to think in vain; in fact it seems that life goes in circles, I mean, come and go: spring follows summer, summer follows autumn, autumn follows winter, winter springs, and so time returns to revolve uninterruptedly; only human life runs to its end faster than the wind, without waiting to be renewed, if not in the other which has not boundaries that limit it." Sta bbestia, sta Lupa, secca e avara

"Vuie ca state mmiezz'e diente...
Vuie ca state mmocc'a Lupa,
Vuie ca nun vedite cchiù nè ghiuorno né notte...
ma sulo o cannarone apierto, scuro comm'a pece ca ve tira a'ffunno...
fino o primme giro de'budelle...
Pentitevi... facite na preghiera... l'anema mettite a luogo e salvazione...
Sta bbestia, sta Lupa, secca e avara
he trasuta e sicco e s'he misa e chiatto
dint'a tutt'e case d'a città...
s'è assettata a capotavola
eallà cummanna...fa sta zitte...fa parlà...
a tutte sparte sanghe e mmenesta,
pisciazza, cuttone mmocca, merda,
nu popolo e surdate sta criscenne
cu ll'ogne fatte a punta di coltello...
infanzia, adolescenza, viecchie cu e capille ianche
criature senza capa e senza cosce,
sulo cu e mmane, mane armate,
mane ca vottono o terreno dint'all'uocchie,
ca bucano o sole e a luna.
Guardate, sti criature ntussecus comm'a guappo.
Che ponno tenè? Duie, tre anni?
Zompan'e nuvole e sparan, pah!
Sparan mmocc, sparan dint'e vene giugularie,
Sparano sempe e sulo a chi tene o core.
Scetateve. Io vi dico. Scetateve. Scetateve.

A tutti dispensa minestra e sangue, piscio, cotone in bocca e merda. Guardate questi bambini, atteggiarsi a delinquenti.

Maurizio Puglisi 2022

Autumn Song

Autumn Song (2023) Ink drawing by  Maurizio Puglisi   “ Autumn Song” by Paul Verlaine When a sighing begins In the violins Of the autumn -song, My heart is drowned In the slow sound Languorous and long Pale as with pain, Breath fails me when The hours toll deep. My thoughts recover The days that are over, And I weep. And I go Where the winds know, Broken and brief, To and fro, As the winds blow A dead leaf . “Chanson d’automne” by Paul Verlaine, from Poèmes saturniens (1866)
